Sau and his team did an incredible job fully renovating my lawn. They dethatched, core aerated, and leveled the yard, then put down a full layer of top dressing. They started the new lawn with seed and starter fertilizer, and finished it off with a layer of compost. They were thorough, professional, and worked extremely hard from start to finish. Before hiring them, I got quotes from several companies in the area — they came back as the most recommended and reasonably priced of the bunch. Highly recommend for anyone looking to fully renovate their lawn.

Sau did an amazing job with my front lawn! From the start, his communication was excellent. He guided me on picking the right tree and even offered to pick it up from the nursery since it wouldn’t fit in my car. He arrived on time and did a perfect job installing the tree and adding river rocks, which completely transformed the look of my yard. My lawn went from looking plain and overgrown to polished and beautiful. I really appreciated his attention to detail. He made sure the tree was facing the right direction and had a great eye for aesthetics. He even went above and beyond by clearing out weeds, which wasn’t something I expected but made a huge difference. Sau is reliable, professional, and clearly takes pride in his work. The price was very fair for the amount of effort and care he put in. Neighbors have already stopped by to compliment how nice everything looks. I couldn’t be happier with the result. Highly recommend the Blade Lawn Care and would definitely use their services again.

Tree Services for Loudoun County Homes & Businesses

Our tree work covers the jobs most residential and commercial properties run into:

  • ✓Tree trimming and pruning to clear limbs away from the roof, driveway, walkways and fences, and to thin out overgrown canopies
  • ✓Dead limb removal before broken branches come down on their own
  • ✓Tree removal for dead, declining or badly placed trees
  • ✓Storm cleanup of downed limbs and branches
  • ✓Stump grinding so the area can be seeded, mulched or replanted
  • ✓Debris cleanup after every job

Tree work often goes hand in hand with other yard projects. Once a tree comes down or a canopy is thinned, many customers use the opportunity to replant or refresh beds with our landscaping services, or to have the fallen leaves and debris handled as part of a spring or fall cleanup.

Signs a Tree Needs Attention

It’s a good time to have a tree looked at if you notice any of these:

!

Branches touching or hanging over the roof, gutters or deck

!

Dead or leafless limbs while the rest of the tree has leafed out

!

Cracked, split or hanging branches, especially after a storm

!

A tree that has started leaning or has damage near the base

!

Low limbs blocking a driveway, sidewalk or view of the street

!

An old stump that’s in the way of mowing, planting or a new project

Not every problem means a tree has to come down. Often, trimming out the dead or problem limbs is enough, and we’ll tell you if that’s the case. If branches are tangled in power lines, contact your electric utility first.

TREE REMOVAL

Tree Removal Services

Careful Tree Removal

A tree near a house, fence or garden bed takes planning. We look at what’s underneath and around it before any cutting starts, protect the lawn and landscaping as much as the site allows, and clean up when the job is done. Haul-away of wood and brush is spelled out in your estimate.

Common reasons homeowners remove a tree include a dead or dying trunk, a tree growing too close to the foundation, roots lifting a walkway, or simply wanting the space back for a lawn, patio or new planting.

Storm-Damaged Trees & Limbs

Summer thunderstorms and winter ice regularly bring down limbs across Loudoun County. If a storm has left broken branches in your yard, hanging limbs in a tree, or a tree that’s now leaning, call us at (571) 465-8967 and we’ll get it on the schedule as soon as we can. Stay clear of anything hanging overhead, and if a tree or limb is on a power line, call your electric utility first.

Remove It or Trim It?

A tree with a few dead or overhanging limbs can often be saved with good trimming. Removal makes more sense when most of the tree is dead, the trunk is badly damaged, or the tree is simply in the wrong place. We’ll give you our honest opinion on which option fits, and if a valuable tree really needs a certified arborist’s diagnosis, we’ll say so.

TRIMMING & PRUNING

Tree Trimming & Pruning

Why Regular Trimming Matters

Trees keep growing whether anyone’s watching or not. A few years without trimming can leave limbs rubbing the roof, branches dropping onto the driveway, and a canopy so thick the lawn underneath struggles to grow. Regular trimming keeps trees clear of the house and walkways, removes dead wood before it falls, and lets more light reach the grass and beds below.

What Tree Trimming Includes

Depending on the tree and what you want to accomplish, trimming can include:

  • Removing dead, broken and crossing branches
  • Raising low limbs over driveways, sidewalks and lawns
  • Cutting back branches from the roof, gutters and siding
  • Thinning a dense canopy to let in more light and air
  • Shaping smaller ornamental trees

Good trimming cuts back to healthy growth. “Topping” a tree, which means cutting the whole crown down flat, tends to weaken it and bring back crowded, fast regrowth, so it’s worth avoiding.

Shrubs, Hedges & Smaller Trees

Overgrown shrubs and hedges usually don’t need a tree crew, but they do need regular attention. Shrub and hedge trimming is part of our landscaping services and is often done during a spring or fall cleanup. If you’re scheduling tree work anyway, ask us to look at the shrubs while we’re there.

STUMP GRINDING

Stump Grinding Services

How Stump Grinding Works

Stump grinding uses a machine with a spinning cutting wheel to chew the stump down into wood chips below ground level. It’s faster and far less disruptive than digging a stump out, and it doesn’t leave a large hole in the yard. Once the stump is ground, the area can be leveled with soil and seeded, covered with mulch, or used for a new planting.

Why Remove an Old Stump?

A leftover stump is more than an eyesore. Stumps:

  • Get in the way of mowing and trimming, and are easy to trip over
  • Can attract ants, termites and other insects as the wood decays
  • Often send up sprouts that keep growing back
  • Take up space you could use for lawn, beds or a new tree

After the Stump Is Gone

Grinding leaves a pile of wood chips and a patch of loose, chip-filled soil where the stump was. From there you have a few options: fill and seed the spot so it blends into the lawn (a good fit with our overseeding service in the fall), cover it with fresh mulch, or turn it into a new bed or planting area. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll include it in the estimate.

Tree Work for Homes, HOAs & Businesses

Most of our tree work is for homeowners dealing with overgrown yard trees, dead limbs or a stump that’s been sitting for years. We also handle trimming and cleanup for HOA common areas, office properties and storefronts, where low limbs over walkways and parking areas need regular attention. For properties that need ongoing care, tree and shrub work can be folded into a commercial property maintenance plan.

OUR PROCESS

STEP 3

You get a written price.

The estimate spells out the work and what’s included, such as haul-away and cleanup, so there are no surprises.

STEP 4

We do the work and clean up.

☎ Call (571) 465-8967

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Loudoun County?

It depends on where the tree is. Some towns, including Leesburg, have their own rules for certain trees, many HOAs require approval before a tree comes down, and trees near utility lines or in a public right-of-way fall under separate rules. It’s worth checking with your town office or HOA before scheduling a removal. When we look at the tree, we’ll point out anything that suggests you should ask first.

Every tree job is priced individually. The main factors are the tree’s size, how close it is to the house, fences or power lines, how easy it is to reach, and whether you want the stump ground and the wood hauled away. We give you a written price after looking at the tree, and the estimate is free.

Stump grinding is a separate service, so you can choose. Many homeowners have the stump ground at the same visit so the area can be seeded, mulched or replanted. Others leave it for later. Just tell us when you request a quote and we’ll price removal and grinding together or separately.

For most routine pruning, late fall through winter works well. The tree is dormant, the branch structure is easy to see without leaves, and there’s less stress on the tree. Dead, broken or hanging limbs are different: those should come down whenever you notice them, rather than waiting for the season.
